Linguist, adventurer and easy going academic

Moscow
My story

I was born in London, England back in 1991 but always had a sense of adventure and a curiosity of language. I moved to Moscow on an exchange programme when I was just 18 and had one of the most memorable years of my life! It was that initial experience along with incredible interactions with Russians that brought be back to Russia in 2018. I've lived here ever since and have no plans to move yet!

What do I do here?

I'm a linguist and teacher by trade but I'm now working in Localie itself! I've lived all over the world including France, China, Australia, Russia and my native England. I have a passion for learning languages and can communicate fluently in French, Russian and English. I'm also currently working on a couple more. I'm LGBT+ friendly.

What's the best of my city?

Since moving to Moscow I have experienced a country of extremes. Here nothing is done in moderation. The architecture is a city of contrasts. Cold and overly functional Soviet housing blocks, contrasted with Imperial Russian mansions and palaces. In the winter the great squares are engulfed in a white layer of snow and the festive decorations bring the spirit of Christmas alive. In the summer the weather is gorgeous and we can go swimming in Serebryanny Bor a man made lake here since the Soviet times, or we can for a bike ride through the parks and take in the fresh air. Most of all I can help you put together a personalised tour which will be different from every other experience. No one day is the same as another.

My tours secret sauce

I will show you how Russians live. You will be able interact with locals and experience what it means to be Russian living in one of the most Iconic cities in the world. I will show you which stereotypes are true and which couldn't be further from the truth. You'll meet people from all over the old USSR. Russia is home to people from all 85 regions and republics of the Federation as well as natives of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazhakstan, Belarus and more. You'll be able to explore modern and trendy food galleries or a simple Russian canteen. You can look inside a typical soviet home or take a ride on the overwhelming yet stunning metro system without getting lost. We can hike or drink together or even just go clubbing! If you want a friend for the day who has experienced Russia as a foreigner abroad I look forward to hearing from you!
