I am an art historian and I am in love with Karelian nature

My story

The topic of my Ph.D. thesis is the northern sea marine paintings in the Russian and European art, therefore my love and my passion are the northern outskirts of our homeland, the nature of Karelia, which was also loved and warmly embodied in their paintings by the most famous Russian landscape painters - I.I.Shishkin, A.I.Kuindzhi, N.K. Roerich, A.A. Rylov, A.N. Benois and many many others! Every day I learn new facts from the biographies of artists related to their hobby for Karelia, and I will be glad to share them with you!

What do I do here?

By my first education I am a philologist, by the second I am a manager, and by the third I am an art theorist. This background allows you to deeply feel the ethnic culture and visual beauty of each place. And the teaching experience helps to easily reveal information to the listener and teach him to see this wonderful world through the filter of absolute beauty!

What's the best of my city?

Karelia is a separate republic within the Russian Federation, which previously belonged to Finland, and even earlier to Russia, and even earlier - again to Finland. Such historical twists and turns formed the basis of a very special mentality, combining the Karelians and Finnish and Russian features in the ethnos, they carefully preserve their language, culture and nature. In our travels, we can touch a piece of this separate world and feel all its charm. Nobody remains the same, each of our companions returns renewed and inspired.

My tours secret sauce

The main goal of visiting Karelia is its nature. The highlight of our travels is to see this nature through the eyes of great painters, walk their way to Sortavala and discover our inner “space”, like Nicholas Roerich, float on Lake Ladoga to Valaam and find “huge mossy stones” discovered by Ivan Shishkin, fall in love with skerries Lahdenpohja, like Albert Benois, get lost in the expanse of water, like Arkady Rylov. On another trip, we look at the world through the eyes of the indigenous inhabitants of the Karelians, listen to their language, get imbued with their ethnic culture and get energized at the waterfalls (which were also immortalized by our artists). Or you can combine both programs and fall in love with the picturesque regions of Karelia for a whole week. Is there too much art, you ask? No, art is the basis of life and only through art does a person find himself again. See you on your trip! WITH LOVE, Ivetta
