Hey there! I am Elif from Izmir, Turkey. I moved to Moscow in January 2020 to experience one of the largest cities in the world. As an ESL teacher and an individual who enjoys some other creative work, I was looking for a place where I could expand my horizons, learn more about other cultures, and explore more to improve myself as a person. So, here I am!
I'm an English teacher and have worked in 3 countries so far - including Turkey, Kazakhstan and now, Russia. I've moved to Moscow to personally experience one of the biggest cities in the world as an expat. Before becoming a full-time teacher, I'd worked at an international short film festival in my hometown, Izmir, communicating with local and foreign guests who'd come to the festival, showing them around, translating the subtitles of the films and interpreting. I've also had experience in voiceover which is still a passion of mine.
I personally enjoy spending some time walking in the backstreets to discover some hidden gems; structures with local texture, small and cosy cafés, book&vinyl shops, alleys and more original, domestic places. Moscow is one of those cities where you will never run out of things to do and there will always be something you still haven't seen, which makes you more curious about the place. I like the fact that there is something for everyone in Moscow. No matter what your interests are, you will definitely find something unique to your personal taste. Whether you are an art-enthusiast, interested in architecture, soviet history, or just enjoy the natural areas, hanging out in cafés, shopping in big malls... This is the right city for you.
I'm a communicative, friendly person and am into sightseeing, parks and cafes/pubs, where you can find some local dishes, which I can show you some of my faviourites and not so expensive ones, too! I can also give some tips for public transport to minimise the travel time.
