I was born in Funchal and pretty soon realized that not everybody gets to do their daily routine by the sea. When I went to study in Oporto I couldn't explain to people how it was possible to swim and see the beautiful mountains and cliffs just right in front of you. So close... So close that in places like Seixal you have this beach where the beautiful forest green sea contrast with the amazing typical black sand. And when I was homesick, I just envy how easy it was to get beautifully fried scabbardfish sandwiches or really fulfiling bites of our empanadas, one of the most amazing heritage from Venezuela. Our fresh fish and seafood, unique fruits and produce, a bit different from what you'll find in the main land, combined with an hedonist way of being result in a sinful gastronomy. What I love about Madeira is that we love people, drinking, eating, telling stories, celebrating... And we've got the perfect weather and frame, either by the ocean, or within the mountains, to do so!
I'm a really go getter and curious person who just loves to learn and experiencing things. I love people, stories, culture, food, music, nature and sight seeing, everything that truly makes me appreciate how wonderful is the world that we live in. I'm a social psychologist and an activist for Human Rights. I love Knowing people and share a good conversation, a good laugh, some (a lot of?) food, anykind of knowledge, you can't ever not learn something when you get to know someone new. I've lived in Oporto for five and half years and in Lisbon for almost a year. Madeira is so different from those cities. It's not loud and busy and you get a bit of everything, all the time. A bit of people, bit of city, a bit of countryside, a bit of sea. I love living here, the vibe, the ocean, the green, the weather, the safety, the hedonist vibe with the year round celebrations and the beach, and the amazing food, the drinks, the tradition, the people... Madeira is a full experience by itself!
Madeira is all about sea, nature, celebrating and culture. We've got good weather year round, friendly people, a good safe place for you to explore and yes, we have A LOT of Cristiano Ronaldo references. Visiting Madeira is always an experience. Depending on the time of the year you can see different parades, firework fests, street decoration and little temporary markets and you can opt for so many differents approaches as well. If you like nature, we have beautiful walks, like Levadas, those trails make you feel like a true explorer everytime, some of them are over the clouds or in the deep woods or have caves and waterfalls. By car you can easily acess some great views and waterfalls always with the ocean as a background. You can see our beautiful lava made pools or black sand beaches, even in Funchal. We absolutely love food and we have amazing fish, seafood, meat, fruits and vegetables. Some of them quite unique. Madeira is all about big and small secrets. Intrigue?
I love to explore new places, just absolutely love. I love food, love little curiosities and stories, love Knowing the spirit of a city or country, love nature, the ocean and views. Love sayings and people. What I'm offering you is a taste of all those things in Madeira. Things that I truly enjoy, with a bit of my story, our story. A story of endurance sometimes, but mostly a story of everyday living in a small paradise. And of course, lots of beauty, conversation, food and drinks, free art and gardens, a bit of adventure or a bit of books and live free music. A taste of a local point of view of paradise with some hidden gems and secrets. For example, everybody talks about Madeira Wine or Poncha but what about Pé de Cabra or Tim Tam Tum? Or Seixal Natural Pools? And the best Tasca? It's scabbardfish and banana really a typical dish? And did you know that Camacha was the first place that football was played in Portugal? Do you know our UNESCO World Heritage places? No? Let's find out!
