I was born and grew up in Vilnius, which is another breathtaking and culturally rich city. After graduating I moved to Italy to follow my dreams of studying conservation science for cultural heritage. Even though there are a few universities that offer this program, I chose Venice specifically because of the profound history and traditions which are still preserved until this day. Having visited Venice before coming here, I already knew that Venice is more than a place for pretty pictures, st. Mark’s square and a few main streets. Venice is a place that keeps on giving - every time I go out, I can find something new and exciting. Besides, I am a big photography enthusiast, so this city is a place where you can never run out of inspiration and things to take pictures of.
When I'm not studying, I always go out to explore. It is something that can instantly take my mind off all the worries I might have. While doing that, I explored the city in and out, found my favourite spots. Considering that I came from Northern Europe, the thing that changed the most is the slow and careless (in a good way!) living. No one rushes anywhere, everyone has some time in the afternoon for an Aperol spritz with Cicchetti. The city doesn't have many inhabitants but it has the versatility of any other major city. It lets you continue doing things I adore, whatever it may be. For me it was photography, taking part in cultural events, visiting cultural monuments and art galleries, hanging out with my friends, riding my bike and so on.
Probably everyone has heard people saying that you need to get lost in Venice to get the full experience. I can confirm this is true! With me, you could get lost without the fear of not finding the way back. Personally, I can't get enough of Venice's history which combined with the sights, makes them even more impressive. Although I tend to avoid the most touristic places, I believe them to be essential to see because they're so popular for a reason. The history helps to intertwine the lesser-known places with the popular ones. And that shows the connection between the past and today which explains the way people live today. Venice has a lot to offer. Sometimes even more than you can imagine.
I can show you around Venice, not only in the historical centre but all the different islands. I can tell you stories about the evolution of the city, bring you to galleries, museums or we can do a so-called Cicchetti tour! Basically, anything you are interested in, I will try my best to organise everything, so that you have the time of your life here, in Venice. I am also able to take professional photos of many angles and show you the best places to take photos for your social media platforms ;)
