My story
I'm born and raised in Madeira and I'm a local nature lover who started very early to explore Madeira's mountains and trails. More recently I started a passion for trail running and quickly saw that running in Madeira could offer me the best of two worlds. Every single day I try to go outdoors for work or just for my personal pleasure. I can say I know many stunning spots, levadas, and trails, some of them off the beaten path where I'm always surprised when I return there.
What do I do here?
Since my childhood, I always been exploring the Madeira mountains and nature with my family and later with some friends. But I graduated in Business Management and started an "office job". For almost 10 years my daily life was sitting in my office, and feeling sometimes like a robot. Later I certified as a mountain guide and started my own business, a Trail Running and Walking Tours company, called Madeira Trail Tours. Now I'm happy to say I love my job and most of the times it doesn't feel like work.
What's the best of my city?
I could say that if I'm on nature, I'm happy. Nature it's what I love the most in Madeira, from the sea and it's beautiful blue colors, to the laurissilva forest where we have an ancient forest part of Unesco Nature Heritage, to the top of the mountains. Not all the trails are easy, but all of them are unforgettable. We have flat levadas for easy walks or runs, but we have some pretty challenging trails with some steps, where you can have a stunning view of some hidden corners of the island.
My tours secret sauce
I like to take my guests to places where it's not easy to find out in the tourism leaflets or websites. Places where you don't find much traffic and off the beaten path. Some of the most popular trails and levadas are also a must go, but it's better to know the best day and time to go and avoid the crowds. I can do this for you. Along the way, of course, I'll explain some of the things we'll see, like fauna, flora, history and some interesting facts.
