Founding countries
Ukraine, Belarus and Russia — three places, one shared experience of arriving somewhere new and needing a hand.
Our story & roots
Localie started as a community of immigrants from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia — people who had all been the newcomer, the outsider, the one who didn't yet know the city. They helped each other find a flat, a doctor, a friend. Then they opened the door to everyone.
The first Localies knew the feeling by heart: you arrive in a new city full of questions no search engine can answer — which landlord actually answers, which doctor speaks your language, which neighbourhood feels safe at night. They had lived it, so they started answering for each other.
Word spread beyond the founding community. Expats, locals and travelers joined in, and a simple idea took shape: everyone deserves a person who already knows the place. Technology can get you there faster — AI helps you ask the right question — but it's the human on the other end who makes a place feel like home.
That spirit became three doors: an app that connects you with a trusted local, turnkey trips that put you among like-minded people, and the Localie Hub in Amsterdam — a living room for the whole city. Different ways in, one feeling out: feel at home, no matter where you are.

What started among neighbours opened its doors. Today Localie belongs to locals, expats and travelers from anywhere.
No newcomer stays a stranger. If you land somewhere new, someone is already waiting to help you feel at home.
